Synchronizing 5G networks

The latest innovation in radio access technology demands a new level of precision in synchronization networks. In order to deliver emerging 5G and IoT services, mobile timing infrastructure must go further than ever before, ensuring accuracy at base station with precision to within 100ns. What's more, mobile network operators (MNOs) need to develop strategies for cell site synchronization that remove the risk of GNSS unavailability.

Yet achieving ever-increasing timing accuracy and stability levels at cell sites represents a challenge. MNOs need synchronization technology that meets the ITU-T's stringent new specifications, including for class A and B PRTCs, ePRTCs with strict holdover requirements, and the newly improved class C and D boundary clocks. They require solutions that ensure sync quality with sophisticated probes and tackle atmospheric delay variations that impact GNSS timing. It’s also vital that new technology fully supports legacy timing for current revenue-generating services.

Our comprehensive portfolio of high-performance timing products is the answer. Find out how our innovation is pushing the limits accuracy, performance and assured quality. Meet the OSA 5430/4O Series of multi-technology core grandmasters equipped with multi-band GNSS receivers. Discover how our OSA 5420 Series of boundary clocks now addresses even the most stringent class D specifications. And get the detail on our optical cesium atomic clocks with improved holdover capabilities for future-proof 5G timing.
